Golden Spike
A group of 10 vehicles made up of Jeeps, Samurais, and one big Durango showed up at the cinema to run the Golden Spike trail. Here’s a photo of the group airing down at the start of the Poison Spider trail.
Here’s the group starting up the Poison Spider switchbacks. I was elected the leader today.
Making our way up onto the slickrock.
At the base of the Poison Spider waterfall.
And now for the Wedgy….
Jim posed for a wheel lift photo.
And Davon taking the high line.
Rick, out in Rokdawg.
Gary Bushnell….
Here’s Steve in his Durango with his wife and 4 kids.
And….Gary Lee Fischer.
We left Poison Spider and moved onto the Spike. Here’s a photo of the Launching Pad with Jim just reaching the top.
Everyone waits their turn.
Jeff’s so scared he can’t bear to watch. Good thing Drtsqrl drives itself.
Gary makes his way down the very steep slickrock.
Here’s Jim working a ledge near ‘Zuki hill.
Big ledges on the Spike.
And then, the Golden Crack. Some nice photos today in the very warm 80+ degree weather.
After everyone made it safely through the Crack, we moved over to Double Whammy where Davon came very close to a flop.
And once again a big wheel lift as he tries to find the line.
Gary Lee takes the line to the left.
Steve tries the bigger ledge to the right. Can there be a wheelbase too long? I guess 122″ was too long today.
Susan has no troubles with her newly modified WMNDRVR.
Jeff tries the line to the right and nails it.
Not to be outdone, Gary Lee takes the line to the right as well. So did I, just no photos of me today!
After Double Whammy, the group split up. Five went back and went down Rusty Nail while another five continued on down Gold Bar rim. We met up at the same time and headed out to Gemini Bridges at top speed.
I heard some communication on the CB about a stuck shock but didn’t realize what was meant until Davon got to the parking lot.
His passenger rear shock was frozen in place completely extended. He had to go home and get his trailer to haul it out. Must have been all that excitement on Double Whammy.
Anyway, it was another fantastic trail day. Stay tuned for some Easter Week excitement as we are just a little over a week away. Thanks all and see ya on the trail.

As I was looking through these pictures I’m saying Hey I know these people LOL! Anyway thanks again and tell Gary Lee Hi.
